Overview
The Statewide Certified Peer Specialist Quarterly Calls are designed to bring peers together from across the state to connect, learn and strengthen the peer workforce. These calls provide a collaborative space to explore key aspects of peer support practice, share insights from lived experience and engage in meaningful discussion around real-world challenges. Participants will have opportunities to build skills, enhance ethical and professional practice, and learn practical strategies that can be applied in their work. The calls also emphasize peer-to-peer learning, mutual support and the value of diverse perspectives within the field. Peers are encouraged to actively participate, help shape future conversations and contribute to a growing statewide community of practice. Attendance also may support continuing education goals, with opportunities for CEUs and certificates of completion available.
Objectives
Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:
- explain the six dimensions of the ASAM Criteria
- identify high-risk alcohol and stimulant withdrawal symptoms
- recognize signs of DTs, methamphetamine psychosis, and overdose
- prioritize detox referrals using an ASAM-informed framework
- respond safely to behavioral health crises while staying within the peer support role
- connect individuals to appropriate levels of care and community resources
