DESCRIPTION:

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly transforming how government delivers services, safeguards public funds, strengthens resilience, and improves transparency. Yet the true challenge is not building isolated AI demos – it is developing solutions that are mission-aligned, responsible, and scalable for real-world adoption.

This hackathon is designed around a single unifying theme: Move beyond experimentation toward deployable, mission-ready AI systems.

Over the course of the event, teams will tackle four high-impact, cross-government challenges that reflect real operational priorities across federal agencies:

  • Proactive Program Integrity (CMS) – Detecting anomalous provider behavior to prevent fraud, waste, and abuse before improper payments occur
  • Public Comment Intelligence for Federal Rulemaking – Modernizing how agencies analyze, prioritize, and synthesize public input at scale
  • Disaster Risk & Resource Prioritization Intelligence – Enhancing data-driven preparedness and proactive resource allocation for emergency management
  • AI-Powered Housing Regulatory & Development Feasibility Intelligence

Each challenge is grounded in publicly available data and structured to support:

  • Explainable, Responsible AI
  • Transparent scoring and traceability
  • Scalable, cloud-native architectures
  • Clear pathways from MVP to agency pilot

This is not a theoretical competition. Participants are invited to build prototypes that could evolve into operational systems supporting program integrity, housing supply, regulatory transparency, and national resilience.

The goal is simple: Demonstrate how AI can strengthen public trust by making government more proactive, transparent, and data-driven.
