Mass Save Authorized Crew Lead 

Steps to becoming an Authorized Crew Lead: 

1.  Complete the required training (see below)
2.  Schedule a field exam
3.  Pass the field exam to receive authorization  

Mandatory Training Requirements to Become an Authorized Crew Lead

Each crew lead must hold valid credentials sufficient to satisfy one of the following certification pathways: 

1.  Boot camp: Crew Member Training + Combustion Safety Training + Boot Camp Crew Lead Field Exam + Lead Safe
2.  Boot camp: Crew Member Training + BPI Building Analyst Certification + Boot Camp Crew Lead Field Exam + Lead Safe
3.  Boot camp: Crew Member Training + Boot camp: Crew Lead Training + Boot Camp Crew Lead Field Exam + Lead Safe
4.  Contractors internal training + Crew Lead Field Exam + Lead Safe

Note:  Candidates will have two opportunities to pass the field exam before being required to take or retake the Crew Lead Training

Scheduling a Bootcamp Field Exam: 

All training requirements must be met before a field proctoring exam can be scheduled.  CLEAResult must be your lead vendor.

1.  Download and complete the Boot camp Checklist/Proctoring Request Form  and email to proctoring@clearesult.com
2.  Pass the Crew Chief Field Exam
3.  Please contact your account manager with questions  

Mass Save Duct Sealing Authorization 

Steps to Duct Sealing Authorization:  

1.  Complete 1-day Duct Sealing training and pass the in-lab exam
2.   Schedule a field exam. Complete the Duct Sealing Checklist/Proctoring Request Form  and e-mail to: proctoring@clearesult.com
3.   Pass the Duct Sealing Field Exam   

Crew Member Training Options:  Crew members are not required to hold any particular weatherization or building science certifications but are encouraged to achieve the following certifications: 

  • BPI Residential Building Envelope Whole House Air Leakage Control Installer Certification 
  • Boot Camp: Crew Member Training
  • Any other BPI or DOE or WAP weatherization training
