The surge of questions surrounding Artificial Intelligence makes the problem of smart phone addiction seem quaint. The largest mental health crisis the world has ever seen should be a wakeup call to those paying attention: our ability to create new technologies has outpaced our moral and ethical formation as a people. Artificial Intelligence isn’t ultimately about technology...it’s about us.

What does it mean to be human in an AI age? Are we replaceable? Do the promises of AI outweigh the perils?

These questions matter because they cut at the core of what it means to be human. As AI continues to advance, it presents a temptation to surrender our minds, creativity, relationships, and work on the altar of ease and efficiency. But to do so is to surrender our very humanity, because we were made in the image of God to think, create, commune, and work.

Christians are called to a different response. The good news is God defines reality and has made humans in His image. And as image bearers, we are called to this precise moment in history for His purpose.
