REQUESTS TO REGISTER WILL START ON OCTOBER 16, 2025.

The California JPIA's 2026 Risk Management Academy will be held over two and a half consecutive days in a hotel setting, away from the office.

This Academy will provide the essential building blocks to develop, establish, and embed risk management as a business process within your agency. Participants will learn to better manage their agency's risk by understanding the basic concepts, principles, and applications of risk management. Participants will also gain a better understanding of the Authority's tools and resources, along with the skills necessary to achieve buy-in from upper management to create and support a healthy risk management culture.

While all California JPIA member employees are welcome to request to register, this academy is primarily intended for individuals who serve as their agency's risk manager.

Registration Process

There is no cost to attend this academy which is only open to Authority members.  Attendees will have the option of staying overnight at the hotel for three nights.  Authority staff will coordinate hotel reservations.

Those interested in attending this academy must submit a "request to register" on the event website and be confirmed by the event planner.

Registration is limited to 30 people.

The Authority will either confirm registration by email or place the person on a waiting list. For those placed on the waiting list, should space become available, you will be notified as such by email. Your website reservation will serve as your confirmation.

If you are a person with a disability and need an accommodation to participate, please contact the California JPIA training division by email, training@cjpia.org, within two business days of the training date.  Also, if you have any dietary restrictions, please notify us as well prior to the academy date.  Please note that the Authority is closed on Fridays.
