Summary - Assessment 101

Assessment 101A (1 hour)

Building on the foundational knowledge from Psychosis 101, Assessment 101A is the first session in a two-part assessment training. This module focuses specifically on intake questions used in evaluating possible first-episode psychosis. Participants will develop confidence in asking psychosis-related questions and engaging with individuals reporting early signs and symptoms.

Learning Objectives

· Identify early signs and symptoms associated with emerging psychosis.

· Understand the goals and principles of early intervention in first-episode psychosis care.

· Learn how to ask clear, clinically appropriate questions about early psychosis signs and symptoms.

Assessment 101B (1 hour)

As a continuation of Assessment 101A, this session deepens participants’ understanding of differentiating between clinical high-risk presentations and full psychosis symptoms. The training introduces the use of screening tools, self-report measures, and structured or semi-structured clinical interviews. Emphasis is placed on how these tools support accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and ongoing symptom monitoring.

Learning Objectives

· Describe the staging model of psychosis and its relevance to understanding symptom progression.

· Explain the importance of obtaining an accurate diagnosis within early psychosis care.

· Discuss the clinical and personal impact of diagnostic labeling and how it may influence individuals and families.

· Understand the implications of a psychosis diagnosis and apply this understanding to inform effective treatment planning.

The Missouri Behavioral Health Council will award continuing education to behavioral health professionals that log in for the full session.

New Requirement for Continuing Education Credits (Effective July 1, 2025):

To receive CE credits for virtual trainings or meetings, participants are required to have their camera turned on for the duration of the training, except during scheduled breaks.

We understand that technical issues can arise. If your camera is not working, please notify the trainer in advance and remain fully engaged throughout the session. Active participation is required in order to be eligible for continuing education credit.

IMPORTANT CONTINUING EDUCATION INFORMATION:

All attendees must be registered and logged in individually to the virtual event.
Please log in 5-10 minutes prior to the start time in order to work out any potential technical difficulties before the event begins.
Attendees must be logged in and viewing the presentation for the full event time in order to receive continuing education. If an attendee is not listed on the generated attendance report for the full time, continuing education cannot be awarded. MBHC retains the attendance report for auditing purposes.
