Overview

CFA Society Singapore is committed to equipping students with the essential skills needed to excel in the CFA Institute Research Challenge. In line with this commitment, we are pleased to announce a two-day Financial Forecasting Workshop facilitated by Professor Rick Marchese from ESSEC Business School. The workshop will take place over the course of two Saturdays.

We are excited to offer a beginner-friendly, hands-on workshop designed to guide participants through the process of establishing operational assumptions necessary that drive a company's forecasted income statement and balance sheet. The workshop will also cover the construction of a cash flow statement the application of a cash sweep revolver to evaluate a company's potential to generate future cash flows.

The workshop is approachable for all, with no prior experience in financial modelling required. Participants will enjoy an interactive learning experience that offers practical, real-world skills in financial modelling within Microsoft Excel, that can be immediately applied in both academic and professional settings.

Join us for this comprehensive 8-hour workshop, held on Saturday, November 22 and 29, 2025 and master the art of building a dynamic, well-structured financial model.

This is an invaluable chance to strengthen your financial modelling skills and gain a competitive edge in the Research Challenge.

Please note the following:

  • This event is exclusively for locally-based university students participating in the 2025/26 Research Challenge.
  • Availability is limited. We request for participants' commitment to attend both sessions scheduled for 22 and 29 November  2025.
  • Please bring your laptops for these interactive sessions.  MS Windows-based laptops running with a version of Excel 2016 or newer are strongly encouraged.  Apple MacBooks and MacBook Pros must have MS Excel installed but students with these machines may find difficulty in executing certain shortcut keys.
