The Corps Rendezvous is an annual gathering focused on creating meaningful connections among field and mid-level Corps staff; identifying preferred practices in the areas of fieldwork, risk management, Corpsmember recruitment and support; and creating space for Corps staff to recharge, learn, and grow.

This year's event, hosted by New Jersey Youth Corps - Phillipsburg and The Corps Network, includes peer-led sessions on topics such as project logistics, crew dynamics, and professional development, just to name a few. Come join fellow Corps professionals as we discuss common challenges and opportunities for collaboration.

Things to Know

  • What is this "Rendezvous" thing all about? Great question! Think of the Rendezvous as less of a conference and more of a three-day retreat. Our goal is to create a space where you can decompress from the summer season and build a support network of other Corps staff. The event includes full group discussions, breakout sessions, and off-site experiences, all planned to help participants examine the challenges/successes associated with their work and create connections with fellow members of the Corps Industry. Click the agenda link at the top of the page for a full event breakdown.

  • Which Corps typically attend the Rendezvous? Corps of all shapes and sizes are welcome at the Rendezvous. Regardless of your project or Corpsmember focus, the agenda is purposefully broad and open to input to allow Corps of any background to pursue their commonalities. Whether you're located in an urban or rural setting and engage individual placements or crews in public lands, construction, historic preservation, energy efficiency, or a variety of other types of projects, you will find someone with a similar role. This year we're offering a track specific to staff working with individual placement Corpsmembers. You do not need to be a member of The Corps Network to attend.

  • Which staff typically attend the Rendezvous? Although content is typically catered to field, recruitment, risk management and Corpsmember support issue areas, staff of any level are welcome to attend. Past attendees have included crew leaders, field coordinators, recruitment staff, communications staff, program managers, program directors, and even CEO/COOs. All we ask is that attendees respect the purpose of the event and allow each other permission to recharge, learn, and grow, regardless of their relative level of responsibility.

  • Will there be an track for Individual Placement Programs? Yes! Each breakout session will include one or two topics specific to Individual Placement Programming. If you have suggestions for IPP topics, please include them in your registration questionnaire.

  • Conference fee: In addition to getting access to all Rendezvous sessions, the $400 registration fee covers meals and lodging from the evening of November 16th to November 19th. Be advised that registration is non-refundable.

  • Getting there: New Jersey School of Conservation is an Environmental Education center located in northern New Jersey. The nearest major airport is Newark International Airport, and it’s 1.5 hours away. Transportation to and from the camp is not included in registration. If you are flying into Newark International Airport and want to carpool with other attendees, please indicate that while registering, and TCN staff will work to connect groups of people together.

  • Attire: The dress code for the Rendezvous is casual - wear whatever makes you most comfortable. The weather during this time could vary drastically. Typical temperatures range from a high of 60 degrees during the day and a low of 40 degrees in the evenings. Please check the weather forecast ahead of time to make sure you’re packing everything you may need.

  • Lodging: The camp offers communal-style lodging which means you will be in a shared room with other attendees. Approximately ten individuals will be assigned to each room. Think of it like summer camp! You will need to provide your own pillow, sleeping bag, and towel. Please let us know if you require certain accommodations while registering and we will do our best to meet your needs.

  • Get involved! The Corps Rendezvous is a peer-led event where expertise is pulled primarily from those in attendance. We create space for creative problem-solving, but the real magic comes from attendees' willingness to share, collaborate, and engage in discussions. Come ready to share your experiences and be open to talking about your challenges. If you have expertise in a specific topic or are interested in facilitating a session, reach out to The Corps Network at email address below.

Note: Corps Rendezvous has a minimum registration requirement. If that minimum is not met the event may be canceled. Registration costs will be refunded, but other related expenses are not the responsibility of TCN.
