The Basic Medicaid Finance Training is a two-day training designed to provide an overview of the Medicaid program and key financial components for those newer to roles in Medicaid finance. The training will include the following modules:

History of Medicaid
Medicaid Funding Sources
Medicaid Matching and Non-Federal Share
Federal Financial Reporting
Medicaid Regulations
Medicaid Eligibility
Medicaid Cost Containment
Medicaid Fraud & Abuse

Each module will provide the programmatic background necessary to build a foundational understanding of Medicaid while weaving in the critical financial components needed to function effectively in a Medicaid finance role. Participants will gain a better understanding of not only how Medicaid works, but how program requirements and decisions translate into financial impacts, federal claiming, reporting, and compliance responsibilities.

Additionally, relevant provisions of H.R. 1 will be incorporated throughout the modules, with a focus on how those provisions may impact Medicaid financing and the Medicaid financial role.
