Why We Are Gathering

The Network exists to accelerate effective public impact research in states and localities. This workshop launches the inaugural Public Impact Research Training Institute, brings Fellows and network leaders together to build community and celebrate public impact research in action, and gives the workgroups dedicated time to advance their work.

How We Will Work

  • The three days move from arriving and orienting, to deepening theory and practice, to seeding the network's next work.
  • Four kinds of sessions: hosted conversations for generative, network-building learning around shared themes; interactive trainings aligned with the methodologies of public impact research; workgroup sessions, which are working time on projects identified in advance; and plenaries with examples of public impact research in action.
  • You will be assigned to a cross-institution learning group. The number is on your name tag.
  • We harvest as we go. Some sessions will be photographed and recorded so what we learn stays with the network after we leave. Our purpose, working agreements, and a parking lot will be posted in the room.
  • Breaks will be scattered throughout each day.
