Summary

The expansion of the electric transmission system is a critical, yet often understated, component of the clean energy transition. Given the need to reduce carbon emissions, retire fossil fuel generators, accelerate the electrification of transportation, and manage peak load shifts, expanding, upgrading, and reinforcing the transmission system is vital. This will ensure a smoother integration of more renewable energy resources while maintaining system reliability. By facilitating the integration of more renewables, a resilient grid will not only promote sustainability but also create an opportunity to spur economic growth.

The recently published National Transmission Needs Study by the US DOE's Grid Deployment Office emphasizes the urgent need for increased transmission to achieve the US clean energy goals for 2035. The federal support under IIJA and IRA goes beyond conventional policy assistance and incentivizes transmission expansion through expedited approval processes for projects of regional and national significance and enhanced financing. This convergence of infrastructure needs and policy backing presents a pivotal opportunity for transmission expansion. If ever there was a better time for the electricity transmission industry in the US, it is now.

In light of these developments, Global Transmission Report is organizing its 4th annual conference on Transmission Infrastructure US on June 6-7, 2024 at Jay Conference Center Midtown East, New York. This year's conference is dedicated to advancing the development of much-needed transmission infrastructure in the US by highlighting policy and regulations, exploring opportunities, showcasing technologies, and presenting solutions.

The event will bring together policymakers, regulators, utilities, investors, and technology providers to discuss challenges and explore solutions for expanding and establishing a low-carbon, modern, and resilient electric transmission network in the US. It will present network plans and priorities of leading utilities, perspectives of RTOs/ISOs, policy and regulatory developments, and options to meet funding requirements.

The conference will showcase the latest innovations and advanced technologies. It will also feature an exclusive session on high-voltage direct current technology (HVDC), which will play a crucial role in establishing an efficient, long-haul inter-regional network to integrate more renewables into the US energy system.

Join us at this significant event to engage in crucial strategic and technical discussions with thought leaders and innovators shaping the future of the electricity transmission industry in the US.
