Big News! ISEA Graduate Credit is Back—and Better!

Ready to take the next step in your professional development? We've just launched an exciting partnership with Upper Iowa University to bring back Graduate Credit for ISEA Academy courses!

This collaboration provides two major wins for you:

  1. More Affordable: We've successfully negotiated a lower cost per Graduate credit hour! Invest in your education without breaking the bank. (The new rate is in the "Fees" section at the top of the page.)
  2. A Head Start on Your Degree: A select group of your ISEA Academy courses can now count as elective credit in an Upper Iowa University graduate program. Get credit for the professional learning you're already doing! (Don't forget to check with your program advisor for all the details!)

Important Note for Graduate Credit: To be eligible to receive Graduate credit through Upper Iowa University, you must possess a bachelor's degree from an institution that its regional accreditation association recognizes.

Get ready to dive in! This is your opportunity to enroll in a self-paced, one-credit, four-week course that is entirely on your schedule!

Once your registration is processed, look for an email from your instructor packed with everything you need to know. As soon as you get those instructions, you're ready to begin!

Remember, you have the entire 4 weeks to complete all your assignments, discussions, and the final project. It's flexible, but the clock is ticking!

Course Description:

The treasure chest is open once again, and this time, we’re going deeper. Whether you’re a veteran of the first course or a newcomer looking for the ultimate toolkit, this sequel is designed to move your students beyond basic conversation and into the world of high-level academic success.

In this 4-week, research-driven intensive, we shift the focus from "just getting by" to bridging the achievement gap. Using the latest edition of the industry-standard text, The ELL Teacher’s Toolbox 2.0 (2025), you will  transform your classroom into a powerhouse of academic language proficiency.

We don’t just provide tools; we provide the why. Our curriculum is built on the pillars of explicit vocabulary instruction, the integration of literacy across all content areas (Science, Social Studies, and beyond), and the strategic use of a student’s primary language as a resource, not a hurdle. This course culminates in a personal Action Research project to prove exactly what works in your unique classroom. Join us to turn linguistic barriers into bridges and transform your classroom into a space where every voice is heard and valued. Ready to turn the key? Join a collective of educators dedicated to turning language barriers into bridges.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will…
● Design and implement lessons using strategies matching the needs of English learners in the classroom.
● Implement scaffolds for content learning.
● Use and/or design equitable assessment and grading systems that measure content knowledge separately from language proficiency and provide data to determine teaching strategies.
● Establish an action plan to develop a classroom culture that prioritizes student agency, effective behavior management, and parent engagement.
