Annual General Meeting (AGM): November 6 & 7, 2026
Ontario's Anesthesiologists' AGM sessions will be interspersed throughout the conference presentations. The AGM will include updates from the OA Chair, Board Chair of the OMA and President of the CAS, a report by the OA Tariff Lead, and the presentation of our 2025-2026 Financial Statements and 2026-2027 Budget for approval by the OA Treasurer. We will also present our annual Distinguished Service Award, which is the highest honour our organization can bestow.

Peripheral Nerve Blocks Beyond Earth: Delivering Regional Anesthesia in Space

Presented by a leader in this unique field, this session will examine the physiological effects of microgravity and their implications for anesthesia and pain management.
Learn the potential safety advantages of regional anesthesia compared with opioid-based analgesia and general anesthesia in spaceflight settings, including considerations related to resource limitations and patient recovery.
Attendees will also review key research that has evaluated the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of performing regional anesthesia in microgravity, which provides insight into future applications for not only space medicine but also remote healthcare environments.
Dive Deep: Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Acute and Perioperative Care

While a range of acute and perioperative conditions can benefit from hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), this specialized treatment is often overlooked. Discover why it should be considered more often during this session.
It will review the physiological principles that underpin HBOT, including the most important emergency indications for treatment.
Attendees will learn to recognize and manage potential complications associated with HBOT and gain practical insight into patient selection and risk assessment.
They will also come away with strategies for effective care coordination, including critical consultations with hyperbaric medicine specialists and the logistics of patient transfer in time-sensitive situations, to ensure optimal outcomes through a multidisciplinary approach.
GLAM Meets Canada: A Cross-Border Conversation on Anesthesia Care Teams

In a first for the OAM, two U.S.-based anesthesiologists will join us for a thought-provoking conversation on team-based models of care. Increasing demand for anesthesia services and other growing workforce pressures are not unique to Ontario or even Canada.
As this session will demonstrate, our American peers have long used ACT models as a strategy to improve access and sustainability, with lessons to share on what has worked, what hasn't, and what they may have done in the beginning if given the opportunity to do it again. Hear how these models vary between our two countries and dive into the key differences in provider roles, scope of practice, regulatory frameworks, and accountability structures.
Through a live discussion of current evidence and real-world experiences, the potential benefits and risks of expanded team-based approaches, including impacts on access, efficiency, patient safety, and quality of care, will be evaluated.
Attendees will leave this session empowered with the practical considerations and strategies needed to evaluate whether and how team-based models fit in their practice environment.
