High school sophomores, juniors, and seniors during the 2025-26 academic school year are invited to join us to explore the scenic vistas and natural resources of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula! 

 

At this academic camp, you will experience firsthand how scientists incorporate technology and field experiences to study the changing environment. Paddle the AuTrain River to Lake Superior to monitor water quality issues.  Learn about local minerals, what techniques are used to extract them, and how mining affects the environment and society.  Understand the role of the Great Lakes in shipping resources such as iron ore. Explore pristine lakes and ancient mountains. Learn how people have interacted for thousands of years with the landscapes of the Upper Peninsula.  Experience modern-day Marquette while learning about urban planning and historical aspects of the city's growth.

 

The $849 camp registration fee covers all costs associated with campus housing, meals, transportation, and field experiences during the week.  

Registration will increase to $949 on June 1, 2026.
