In honor of 25 years of dedicated service, the Carilion Clinic Center for Healthy Aging is hosting Caring with Confidence: Navigating the Caregiver Journey and we invite you to attend this special event.
Please join us on September 15, 2026, at the Hotel Roanoke’s Crystal Ballroom for a meaningful morning dedicated to education, connection, and support.
The program begins at 9:00 AM (registration at 8:30 AM) and features two expert speakers. Amanda Bulgarelli of Positive Approach™ to Care will share practical, compassionate strategies to help caregivers better understand dementia, improve communication, and handle challenging situations with confidence. Tina Savla, Ph.D., professor with Virginia Tech’s Center for Gerontology and Department of Human Development and Family Science, will present “Finding Steady Ground as a Family Caregiver,” exploring the concept of ambiguous loss, the impact of worry and rumination on caregiver well-being, and practical strategies for seeking support and sustaining resilience throughout the caregiving journey.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in a panel discussion featuring experts from Carilion Clinic, offering valuable insights and perspectives on dementia care. The session will include time for questions and answers, allowing participants to engage directly with the panel. In addition, representatives from local businesses and community organizations will be available to provide resources, answer questions, and share helpful information to support caregivers and their loved ones.
This program is designed for family caregivers, healthcare professionals, and anyone supporting individuals living with dementia. The interactive event will provide valuable tools you can immediately apply.
A boxed lunch is included.
Seating is limited. Register today by selecting “Register Now” to reserve your spot.
