How The Body-Brain Connection Can Help Us
Refresh Our Teaching and Boost Student Engagement
It’s not all in your head. Many students are struggling with engagement, stamina, and language comprehension. As a field we have missed a key element that can create much more success for our students– the body’s role in learning and literacy. When we recognize that our bodies are deeply connected to teaching and learning, we can all feel safer, more integrated, and more engaged.
There is an abundance of evidence from neuroscience, environmental science, psychology, sociology, linguistics, and education that it is the interconnectedness of our bodies and minds that lead to learning success. In this active and hands-on workshop, you will learn practices that help students become more motivated, develop learning stamina, and experience more awe. We will also rethink practices that might increase anxiety and small shifts you can make that create a big difference. You’ll leave this talk with a new perspective, new ideas, and a lot more possibilities to play around with in your teaching.

~ Cancellation requests must be submitted in writing by September 15, 2026 to info@massreading.org.
~ Cancellations: A $60 fee will be applied to cancellations made between September 15 and September 30, 2026.
~ Refunds: No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after September 30, 2026.
~ No-shows will be invoiced for the full registration amount.
~ Registration transfers: Instead of canceling, you may transfer your registration to another attendee. All transfers must be arranged through the Event Coordinator, Nancy Meagher, by emailing info@massreading.org.
