Topic Overview

Artificial Intelligence presents Internal Audit with an interesting challenge: many of the underlying risks are familiar, but AI can change how those risks arise, interact, and impact the organization. This presentation will explore a practical approach to risk assessing AI from an Internal Audit perspective, examining both technology and operational risk considerations. The session will discuss governance, data, security and access, technology architecture, third-party dependencies, regulatory considerations, human oversight, and the integration of AI into business processes and decision-making. The discussion will help auditors look beyond the technology itself to understand how AI changes an organization’s risk profile, where traditional audit approaches remain relevant, and where auditors may need to think differently when evaluating AI-enabled processes and solutions.
