Flourishing in Medicine Core Workshop

October 14 - 17 , 2026  |  Chapin Mill Retreat Center, Batavia, NY

A retreat-like workshop. Please join us for a retreat-like workshop designed to energize your clinical work while helping you find joy and resilience, through honing your self-awareness and deep listening skills that are keys to navigating stressful and demanding situations you face daily. No prior experience is required.

Developed by physicians. This workshop, developed by physicians to help medical practitioners and educators respond to the erosion of joy in their work, provides an experiential and interactive learning environment. Our approach is evidence-based–as it lessens the effects of burnout and improves well-being, engagement with work, and patient-centered compassionate care.

Clarify and focus on your own learning needs. Contemplative practices, dialogues with colleagues and inquiry-oriented group discussions will enhance your ability to focus, connect and communicate with patients and colleagues.

World-wide community. Join physicians, PAs, NPs, and other health professionals from over 20 countries worldwide.

At the conclusion of this activity, you will be able to:

  • Apply self–awareness, and self-monitoring during clinical work and teaching
  • Demonstrate skills in attending to patient’s needs, effective clinical practice, and compassionate care
  • Effectively manage challenges at work and practice ways to attend to your own well-being

"There are more takeaways than a single survey can support. One of the things that stood out to me was the genuine engagement of the faculty. Unlike other teams of instructors, Ron, Mick, Fred, and Paula showed up and fully participated in each activity and learning opportunity that was presented. To me, that is confirmation of the unwavering, ever abundant value of the principles taught. Thank you for allowing space for so many others to join this crucially important work and culture."

"Being a nurse among many doctors was such a pleasure. I appreciate the interdisciplinary nature of our work even more."

"The essence of human connection lies in being able to observe and attend to the emotional components of interaction. We must be able to observe our own emotions and attend to them in order to feel connected with our own self and purpose."

"This was a tremendously helpful course. They provided meaningful information that will help to me to provide better clinical care, as well as leadership to other medical providers. I felt empowered to take care of myself, so that I could be the best me to take care of others."
