Course Description
This continuing education course is designed to help dentists and clinical teams build confidence using elastics as part of SureSmile® clear aligner therapy. Participants will review the role of interarch elastics in improving aligner predictability, supporting sagittal correction and vertical correction. The course emphasizes practical clinical decision-making, including when elastics may be indicated, how attachments, buttons, and cutout planning supports elastic wear, and a predictable clinical protocol.
Learning Objectives
· Describe the biomechanical purpose of elastics in clear aligner therapy.
· Identify common clinical situations where elastics may be used with SureSmile Aligners, including selected Class II and Class III malocclusions, midline, and vertical corrections.
· Explain how attachments, cutouts, buttons, and staging considerations can support predictable elastic mechanics.
· Recognize common obstacles to elastic success, including patient compliance, predictable elastics protocol, and the importance of proper digital setup planning.
· Apply practical patient communication strategies to improve elastic wear and treatment outcomes.
