About the Meeting
The role of physicians is evolving. Now more than ever, a successful career in medicine today requires that you possess critical technical skills and knowledge associated with your specialty AND enhanced leadership abilities that will help you tackle the challenges and opportunities ahead. At the AAMC, we’re committed to helping YOU, our future physicians, thrive, so we’ve developed RISE: Developing Future Leaders in Academic Medicine & Science for 2nd Year Medical Students to equip you with leadership skills that are vital to both your journey as a medical student and your future as a leader.
Why Should YOU Attend?
“When I say RISE was a truly life-changing conference for me, I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I arrived thinking that everyone would be there to hold their own and that it would be a competitive environment, but I was pleasantly surprised that everyone was there to build each other up and to make genuine connections that will last a lifetime. It was great to learn and to grow not only as a med students, but as humans. The environment was just so authentic and that is so hard to come by in the healthcare system in today’s world. If I had to say this conference did one thing for me, I would say that it instilled hope for me that this generation of doctors and leaders is going to be a force to be reckoned with. We will be a generation that builds each other up. We will ask each other for help and for ideas. We will stand up for what we believe in. Most importantly, we will push each other because deep down, all we want is to see each other thriving in our calling to be physicians. Not only are we going to impact the lives of patients, we are going to confidently lead the healthcare field because of how RISE ignited us to want more. I really think this conference and everything that it entails is something special and if I could rewind it forever, I would."
