Learning Objectives
After completing this session, participants will be able to:
· Identify the underlying root causes of audit issues by distinguishing symptoms from the factors that create or sustain the problem.
· Apply root cause analysis techniques, including effective questioning, data sorting, and data classification, to analyze audit findings and determine their true source.
· Evaluate audit issues using external comparisons and benchmarking to identify process gaps and opportunities for improvement.
· Develop practical, risk-focused recommendations that address root causes and support sustainable corrective actions.
· Facilitate productive discussions with management to communicate root cause analysis results and gain alignment on corrective actions, even when the audit approach differs from established practices.
Seminar Details:
When you identify the root cause of a problem, you can solve it. Not just patch the symptoms. Recommendations become realistic and impactful, and management does not feel like auditors are “nitpicking” with small issues. In this course, you will learn multiple techniques to move beyond the surface audit issues and identify the root cause, including questioning, data sorting and classifying, and external comparisons. You will also learn approaches for management discussion when the audit approach is different than what they are used to.
