All new direct service professionals, therapists, social workers, crisis case workers, supervisors, psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and selected related staff and partners receive 4 in-person days (28 hours) or 7 virtual days (21 hours) of training to be introduced to the evidence-based treatment strategies and techniques used in the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM). The training includes didactic teaching, role-playing and other exercises designed to orient participants to skills used in the treatment process. This training is designed to prepare staff in residential settings implementing ITM programs to begin using these techniques with youth in residence and their caregivers.
Attendance requirements:
- All registrants must be part of an organization that hosts an ITM program and must be pre-approved to attend the training from their supervisor before registering.
- Any additional persons attending must be approved by the MST Services ITM Implementation Manager 14 days in advance of the first day of training.
- A wait list may be maintained for each training. If a wait list exists, it must be cleared 14 days prior to the first day of training. Clearing includes either filling unconfirmed reservations or reassigning the waiting trainee to the next available training.

Registration is open until 1 week prior to the first training day of any ITM Training.

The goals of the training are as follows:
This training introduces the knowledge base and processes needed to implement the Integrated Treatment Model (ITM), and the skills and competencies ITM staff need for such implementation. The objectives of the training are to:
- To provide a brief overview of the history of ITM development and implementation
- To explain MST-FIT and collaboration between the two treatment models
- To explain the bio-social and transactional theories of behavior
- To expose participants to DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) assumptions, principles and clinical elements
- To introduce the concept of dialectics
- To expose participants to the concept of validation
- To teach participants commitment strategies to engage youth
- To orient participants to basic elements of behaviorism
- To introduce trainees to contingency management and targeting behaviors
- To introduce behavior chain analysis and egregious behavior protocols
- To orient participants to DBT skills groups
- To introduce participants to core mindfulness skills
- To introduce trainees to distress tolerance skills
- To introduce participants to emotion regulation skills
- To introduce trainees to interpersonal effectiveness skills
- To orient participants to DBT skills for substance misuse
- To orient participants to de-escalation strategies.
Training reservations & cancellations:
- Program sites anticipating hiring of new staff may reserve slots in advance for a training that best fits with the hiring schedule.
- As personnel are hired, the program site manager must assure that the trainee is properly registered on the training website.
- Once a trainee is formally registered, advance preparation material will be shipped directly to the trainee or to the person designated on the registration form.
- Trainees cancelling after materials have been shipped are subject to a $100 cancellation fee. Trainees cancelling within seven days are subject to a $50 cancellation fee (if materials have not been shipped).
- Reserved slots not confirmed within 10 days of the first day of training are subject to cancellation.
- Trainings with less than 10 confirmed participants will be cancelled.
