This course is designed to expand your comfort and skills with wound management and skin reconstruction techniques. Management of a traumatic wound requires a good understanding of wound healing, evaluation, and appropriate support for the traumatic patient. You’ll learn about the current standard of care in wound dressings. The skin reconstruction skills you will learn can be used to close any wound whether it is traumatic or the result of a mass resection. Didactic training will be reinforced through extensive hands-on training in the labs and applied through practical discussion of clinical cases. Faculty: Dr. Eric Monnet. Day 1 — February 15, 2027, 9:00 AM–4:30 PM: Lectures on wound healing, open wound management, dressings, drains, local and distant skin flaps, and skin mass removal with appropriate margins and closure. Day 2 — February 16, 2027, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM: Wet labs covering wound closure, tie-over bandages, tension-relieving sutures, local and distant flaps, and drain placement. Lunch is scheduled noon–1:00 PM each day.
