The Business of Optometry 1.0 Course was created to help you reach your full potential as a business owner. In this course you will interact with like minded colleagues and learn from Vision Source Business of Optometry faculty who are not only subject matter experts, but optometrists who own their own independent practices. This course will cover:

  • Profit First: Eradicating Practice Poverty
  • Creating positive staff culture
  • Identifying different staff personalities to gain insight into how your employees prefer to learn, work and interact
  • Hiring, Onboarding and Engaging your Staff

TRAVEL INFORMATION

Please plan your travel to arrive by 5pm so you are able to join us for dinner and our opening session. This is important to introduce you to your fellow colleagues and begin the discussions that will occur throughout the course of the curriculum. Departing flights should be made after 6pm

Mick Kling OD Speaker

Dr. Michael A. (Mick) Kling serves as the Senior Director of Professional Development at Vision Source and is the founder of Impact Leadership, a business coaching firm dedicated to supporting the eye care community. He is also the CEO of Invision Optometry, one of San Diego’s largest single-location optometric practices. Known for his thoughtful insights, dynamic speaking style, and forward-thinking solutions, Mick has earned a reputation for helping practice owners successfully navigate their most pressing financial, cultural and operational challenges.

Laurie Sorrenson OD Speaker

Laurie Sorrenson, OD, FAAO is the majority owner in an 9 OD group practice in Austin. She built and occupies 10,500 sq foot building in 2015. An aggressive advocate of optometry, she is the 4th yr Practice Management Coursemaster at the U of H College of Optometry and rotates optometric interns through her private practice. She is the Vision Source administrator in the Austin area since the 90’s. Her practice specializes in macular degeneration, dry eye disease, headaches, neurovisual optometry, glaucoma and designing and fitting contact lenses for patients with corneal disease and trauma. She resides and practices in Austin, TX and hobbies include weight lifting, scuba diving with her husband, and being the mother of 3 children. Her son, Eric, is also an alum of the U of H College of Optometry and is now a partner in the practice! (and she is so proud!!)
