Course Description

Dental implants are a frequent procedure for the replacement of missing teeth. The predictability, functionality, and durability of dental implants make them an attractive option for patients and clinicians; however, complications can arise during the restorative and maintenance phases. The lecture will discuss key implant design features that decrease complications. The lecture will discuss key implant abutment design features that decrease complications. The lecture will discuss how to prevent implant complications and how to treat complications as they arise. 

Educational Objectives:

The overall goal of the lecture is to provide information on implant complications and upon completion of this course, the participant will be able to do the following:

1. Learn the implant restorative options to decrease complications and increase predictability.
2. Learn the important design features of a dental
3. Implant and abutment that decrease complications.
4. Learn the importance of restorative design to decrease stress to the implant.
5. Learn the complications that can arise during the restorative phase of implant therapy, as well as factors involved in their occurrence and prevention
6. Learn the appropriate implant maintenance protocol, as well as treatment of complications observed during the implant maintenance phase.
