Overview

This is a two-day event!

"One day just isn’t enough time." That has been the only criticism of the one-day Deposit Account Administration seminars. There is too much information for one-day!

This two-day program is the most detailed seminar offered on the topic of bank accounts in Kentucky. The presentation provides answers to questions routinely asked by customers and employees. The manual supports those answers with citations to laws, regulations, federal forms and publications. It also provides tips on loads of free resources for use back at the office. Every bank in Kentucky should send at least two employees to this program. They will be able to compare notes, and then divide, delegate and conquer. Yes - there is that much information!

Here is What You'll Learn

Day One is all about Federal requirements at onboarding and account opening, and consumer accounts and fiduciary accounts. Federal requirements lay the foundation for "on-boarding" customers. Kentucky law regarding opening, access, titling, ongoing maintenance and death provisions for consumer accounts are covered in detail. We will also discuss fiduciary relationships such as powers of attorney, trusts, UTMA, Representative Payees, and benefit/memorial funds receive in-depth coverage.

Day Two puts the focus on business accounts. Federal laws and regulations relating to customer onboarding, payment of interest, disclosure requirements, Fair Credit Reporting Act third-party verification requirements and IRS TIN, titling and certification are just the beginning. The bank's anti-money laundering program, including the customer due diligence and beneficial ownership requirements have a significant impact when opening accounts for legal entities. This program addresses information you need to know when implementing these requirements in your bank. The different types of commercial entities recognized in Kentucky are defined and explained, and the available documentation is assessed. Resolutions are evaluated. We also discuss the idea of a business account application, and the forms and information it may include.

Who Should Attend

This program is intended for experienced bankers who are responsible for opening accounts, developing policies and procedures, and training employees. Auditors and back office personnel will also find the information useful. The bank’s BSA/AML team may also benefit.
