About the Events
This year’s Understanding Algal Blooms: State of the Science Conference (SoS) will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The SoS conference will again highlight current scientific knowledge related to algal blooms and identify important areas of uncertainty.
We are also happy to announce, that in conjunction with the SoS, the state and its partners are also hosting an in-person Ohio Domestic Action Plan (DAP) workshop. The DAP workshop will be on the following day, Thursday, September 3, 2026. The focus of the DAP workshop will be on actions being taken by the state and partners under the implementation phase of the action plan.

The Understanding Algal Blooms: State of the Science Hybrid Conference will highlight current scientific knowledge related to algal blooms. Expected audiences include academic researchers, municiple, state and federal agencies and the agricultural community interested in the latest algal bloom science and technology. Members of the aforementioned communities are especially encouraged to attend, but all are welcomed.
New this year - there will be a student poster session. If you are a student interested in displaying a poster, apply here. Please plan to submit you application by Wednesday, August 26th.

The Ohio Domestic Action Plan Workshop is a free event that will focus on actions being taken by the state and partners under the implementation phase of the action plan. This is an in-person only event due to a different physical setup.
