MEETING PURPOSE

The purpose of the  meeting is to bring CDC Prevention Research Centers (PRC) recipients together with the CDC PRC program, special interest project (SIP) sponsors, and key partners in a forum that will provide opportunities for information sharing, collaboration, and networking to launch the 2019–2024 PRC funding cycle. 

 

MEETING OBJECTIVES

At the PRC kick-off meeting, recipients will:

  • Learn about CDC PRC program priorities including an enhanced technical assistance model, new communication support, and an integrated plan for monitoring and evaluation 
  • Learn about various aspects of conducting applied prevention research including community engagement, application of the K2A framework, addressing social determinants of health, and considerations for research in rural health settings 
  • Share information about their PRC, center and core research project activities, and SIPs 
  • Learn from peers about strategies and recommendations for effective PRC operations  
  • Conduct PRC Network business and committee meetings  
  • Participate in networking opportunities to foster collaboration within the PRC Network and CDC
  • Meet with 2019 SIP sponsors and participate in information session about 2020 SIP NOFO

 

MEETING ATTENDEES

Each PRC is encouraged to bring four to six participants to the meeting. These participants should include the PRC Principal Investigator, PRC Deputy Director, and Core Research Project Principal Investigator. Others may include an translation lead, a dissemination lead, a communications lead, or a Community Advisory Board representative. SIP Thematic Network Principal Investigators are also invited to attend the meeting. Please consult your PRC Project Officer if you have any questions about meeting attendance.
