Course Description

Workplace conflict is rarely just about personalities. More often, it comes from unclear priorities, competing demands between teams, limited time and resources, and communication that happens mostly in writing across different time zones. When these issues aren’t addressed, they can lead to missed deadlines, frustration, disengagement, repeated disagreements, and people leaving the team.

This workshop gives participants a shared way to understand and talk about conflict, along with a few practical frameworks they can use to handle the kinds of challenges teams face every day. It’s focused on real workplace situations, not generic communication tips.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the day, participants will be able to:

  • Identify their default conflict style and when to deliberately choose a different one
  • Run a structured, low-drama conversation with relevant stakeholders using an interest-based approach
  • Give and receive difficult feedback (performance, workload, on-call fairness) using the SBI model
  • Recognize how async, text-based communication amplifies conflict, and apply norms that de-escalate it
  • Leave with a personal action plan for one live conflict, plus a one-page reference toolkit
