Management of Acid  Sulfate Soils has been hampered by firstly there being few options  available for beneficial re-use and secondly the waste definitions that  exist in some jurisdictions.  The purpose of the Code of Practice is to  provide a reliable process whereby treated ASS can be beneficially  re-used on sites other than the source site.  Use of the Code is  designed to give regulators the knowledge that the soils have been  appropriately treated and re-used with negligible risk to the  environment.
