Join us this year in Grant County for the Wildland Urban Fire Summit! WUFS is New Mexico’s leading event for wildfire preparedness and planning. Join your peers, community leaders, fire service professionals, federal, state, tribal, and local governments for this in-person event. Community members will share regional history and discuss living in and adapting to the Wildland Urban Interface. Learn the latest techniques, strategies, and resources for wildfire preparedness, mitigation, and recovery. Expand your network of peers and experts to support your fire/disaster resiliency goals. This event is open to the public, and we encourage everyone to attend.

Home Hazard Assessment Learning Exchange

A half-day knowledge exchange opportunity for individuals and organizations who are interested in building community resilience through Home Hazard Assessments and an opportunity to learn about the new preparedness standards adopted by NM Forestry Division, Fire Planning Taskforce, and others.

Workshop goals

1. Teach attendees who are new to the process how to perform HHAs.

2. Explore digital tools and forms; discuss resources and how various HHA programs around the state are structured.

3. Build capacity in rural counties and communities which might not have a WUI coordinator.

4. Discuss different parameters to consider when conducting HHAs, including the difference between the IBHS Wildfire Prepared Home program and HHAs strictly designed to reduce a structure's fire hazard rating.
