Acute Cholecystitis Multi-Center-Trial - Underway!
About the Study
This multi-center trial, sponsored by SWSC and SESC, is focused on improving the understanding of surgical techniques used to manage acute cholecystitis and common bile duct stones. The study evaluates utilization patterns and post-operative outcomes—including morbidity, mortality, and reintervention rates—across participating institutions.
At this time, enrollment is limited to centers already participating in the trial, and we are not currently expanding to new sites. All patients diagnosed intraoperatively with AAST Grade I–V acute cholecystitis are eligible, and the study is designed to pose minimal risk, requiring no experimental interventions. Each participating institution treats patients per standard of care, with data captured prospectively following IRB approval.
