Working with Clients with Anxiety Disorders
Presenter: Mary-K O’Sullivan, LMFT, LADC
September 8, 2026
Live-Webinar / 9:00 AM ( ET ) - 3:30 PM ( ET )
The Anxiety Disorders chapter changed drastically between the development of the DSM-IV, DSM-5, and DSM-5-TR. Both Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders and Trauma-Related Disorders, which are still anxiety disorders, were given their own chapters. This was, in part, due to research showing the uniqueness of each of the three categories.
This training will focus on the disorders in the Anxiety Disorders chapter and their treatment. We will, however, review the connection and commonalities between these disorders and the diagnoses in the other two, newly created, chapters.
Participants who successfully complete this webinar will:
- Explore anxiety versus panic
- Review each disorder, its etiology, and development
- Discuss the anxiety disorders and their relationship to substance use
- Review medication and behavioral treatments for the anxiety disorders
