As an educator with knowledge of restorative practices, you may wonder, “How do I effectively bring those key concepts into my students’ coursework to help them better understand the content and build relationships?”. The answer is to integrate restorative practices into your daily lesson plans and instructional practices.  

In this event, participants receive the information and format to expand the application of the restorative practices framework to their pedagogy and content delivery. Participants will explore various methods on how to connect relational concepts directly to classroom content and debunk the myth that restorative practices and academics don’t belong together. This helps build a relational classroom where students learn to go from being dependent learners to independent learners. Restorative practices go beyond behavior modification and are most effectively integrated into a school community’s culture when they are embedded within classroom content. This builds a stronger relational connection to the content, increasing students’ opportunities for academic success and fostering positive classroom relationships.
