Determining the True Value of a Crude

a 1-day Hands-on Training Workshop using H/COMET

Date: 11th September 2026
Venue: Regus One Fullerton, #02-01, One Fullerton, Singapore 049213
Duration: 1 Day
Format: Instructor-led training with hands-on exercises and live Q&A
Fee: USD 1100.00 | Seats: Limited to 10 participants

Why This Workshop Matters

The value of any given crude oil is not fixed. It depends on the qualities of the crude, the configuration of the refinery, market pricing, and transportation costs. It’s value is also affected by the impact of other crudes in the overall blend crude sourcing, trading, and refinery planning decisions all depend on correctly working through these variables. This one-day session focuses on that analysis, using H/COMET, Haverly's web-based Crude Oil Management Evaluation Tool, as the working platform.

Is This For You?

This workshop is relevant if your work involves crude-related economic decisions, particularly if you:

  • Analyze and compare crude qualities as part of sourcing or evaluation work
  • Review or benchmark crude assays on yield and quality predictions
  • Optimize crude blends to meet quality specifications at least cost
  • Trade crude and need to assess its value across different refinery configurations
  • Make trade-versus-process decisions and need a quantitative basis for them
  • Manage multiple refineries and need to identify the best opportunity crude across that network
  • Use netback analysis to price, value, or negotiate crude prices.
  • Study how refinery configuration affects a crudes value. A review of hydro-skimming, semi-complex and complex refineries.
  • Search for substitute crudes when a preferred grade becomes unavailable

Who Should Attend

  • Refinery planners and economists
  • Crude trading and crude desk professionals
  • Crude producers and marketers
  • Financial institutions and analysts covering crude and energy markets

Note: No prior experience with H/COMET or refinery economics is required.

Coverage

By the end of the workshop, participants will have worked through:

  • Comparing multiple crude assays on yield and quality using a shared database
  • Building optimal crude blends against quality specifications
  • Calculating netback values and applying them to pricing and negotiation
  • Comparing a crude's value across different refinery configurations
  • Conducting marginal (next-barrel) analysis
  • Structuring trade-versus-process comparisons
  • Identifying opportunity crudes across a refinery network
  • Working through crude substitution scenarios under supply constraints

How to Register

This session is capped at 10 participants to ensure every attendee gets hands-on time and direct access to the instructor. Registration closes on August 31, 2026
