HPLC eLearning Track
This track contains a series of modules that cover the basics of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). These modules will discuss the theory, operation, maintenance and Practical Tips of HPLC using both a TUV and PDA detector.
If you would like to register for individual eLearning courses, please see courses below:
750000678 - Theory of HPLC/TUV
This module covers the theory of UV/Visible light absorption and the optics of Waters 2487 and 2489 Tunable Ultra Violet (TUV) detectors for HPLC. The theory section covers Beer's law, how lamp output, solvent background adsorption, and a compound's spectrum affect chromatography sensitivity and linearity. The optics section explains the major optical components of the HPLC TUV detectors and how they work. The module is self paced and contains knowledge self assessment sections.
750000679 - Operation of HPLC/TUV
This module covers the operational parameters of Waters 2487 and 2489 Tunable Ultra Violet (TUV) detectors for HPLC. The module shows how to set the appropriate data acquisition rate and filtering constant for a separation. There is an explanation and example of using the Median Baseline Filter (MBF) to correct for baseline drifting. The module is self paced and contains a knowledge self assessment section.
750000680 - Maintenance of HPLC/TUV
This module covers routine daily and yearly maintenance of Waters 2487 and 2489 Tunable UV/Visible (TUV) detectors for HPLC. This module shows how to properly change the lamp and provides recommended cleaning procedures for the flow cell. This module is self paced.
750000681 - Theory of HPLC/PDA
This module covers the theory of UV/Visible light absorption and the optics of Waters 996, 2996 and 2998 Photo Diode Array (PDA) detectors for HPLC. The theory section covers Beer's law, how lamp output, solvent background adsorption, and a compound's spectrum affect chromatography sensitivity and linearity. The optics section explains the major optical components of the HPLC PDA detectors and how they work. This module is self paced and contains knowledge self assessment sections.
750000682 - Operation of HPLC/PDA
This module covers the operational parameters of Waters 2998 Photo Diode Array (PDA) detector for HPLC. This module shows how to set the appropriate data acquisition rate and filtering constant for a separation. There is an explanation and example of using both the Median Baseline Filter (MBF) and the Reference Wavelength Compensation function to correct for baseline drift or wander. This module is self paced and contains a knowledge self assessment section.
750000683 - Maintenance of HPLC/PDA
This module covers routine daily and yearly maintenance of Waters 996, 2996, and 2998 Photo Diode Array (PDA) detectors for HPLC. This module shows how to properly change the lamp and provides recommended cleaning procedures for the flow cell. This module is self paced.
750000773 - Practical Tips for UV and PDA Detection
This module will discuss practical tips for optimizing Tunable UV (TUV) and Photodiode Array (PDA) detectors for maximum linearity and sensitivity, rugged and reproducible methods.
750000788 - Achieving the Best LC Peak Shape
Good peak shape is crucial in liquid chromatography for the best sensitivity, peak resolution, and reproducibility of peak areas and retention times. Causes of non-ideal peak shapes and how to improve peak shape are discussed.
750000861 - Alliance Tips and Techniques
This module describes best practices and techniques for optimizing the performance of the Alliance HPLC system.
750000988 - HPLC and UPLC Best Practices and Troubleshooting
This module will cover best practices for HPLC and UPLC users to optimize performance and maximize up-time of the system. The module focuses on prevention and troubleshooting of common LC problems.
