ArcGIS
ArcGIS in the Oil and Gas industry
In this beginner class you will get to experience how GIS is used to support the work of professionals in several departments.
Facilities Engineers, Geologists, and Landmen all use maps to help make better business decisions on a daily basis.
The skills you will learn will enable you to use the ArcGIS Pro software to create a plan of development map that starts with constructing layers for leases and units as we cover topics that a typical Land GIS tech would need to know. Then, we start planning wells to be drilled within the unit, covering how to identify the location of a pad site, setting a proposed surface hole location, and constructing a layer for the directional drill of the horizontal well bore. Then finally we will go over the basics of pipeline route selection and how to avoid areas of high consequence and environmental concern
The first half of the class will center on learning the skills necessary to use the software. Then we will dig into creating your own plan of development map and all the map layers that are associated with it.
You will come to understand and appreciate how GIS is not just map making, but also involves database management skills that could be useful in a variety of disciplines.
