Frequently Asked Questions
What is the URL for users who have created their FLEX account?
Why is creating a FLEX account required to enroll in training?
Your FLEX account lets you track your training and professional development over time. Through FLEX , you can earn digital certificates of completion, archive certificates from training received before FLEX , explore career paths, and download your transcripts.
Why don't I see all of my legacy course enrollments in FLEX?
Legacy course enrollment data is being imported into FLEX from SERT TRAC. Records are matched using your email address, alternate email address, or FEMA SID. Legacy enrollments may not appear if that information differs between the two systems.
We are continuing to import as much historical enrollment data as possible, and additional records will be added to your FLEX transcript as they become available. If your training history remains incomplete and your email address or FEMA SID may have changed since SERT TRAC, submit a support request so we can link your records. No other action is needed from you at this time.
I was an Instructor in SERT TRAC. How do I become an Instructor in FLEX?
To become an approved Instructor in FLEX, you must complete the FLEX Instructor Orientation course and submit the required documentation. To enroll in the course:
- If you already have a FLEX account, log in to FLEX. If you do not have a FLEX account, create your account, then return to these instructions.
- Select Register from the left navigation to open the Course Catalog.
- Locate the FLEX Instructor Orientation (Active State Approved Instructors Only) course and select View Offerings.
- Select Add to Cart.
- Select View Cart.
- Select Confirm.
At the end of the course, you will be prompted to submit required documentation as part of the instructor approval process. All documentation will be reviewed and approved or denied by FDEM. If approved, your enrollment will be marked completed and the additional instructor permissions granted within FLEX.
How is my course enrollment approved?
FLEX uses affiliation managers to review and approve course enrollment requests. When you enroll in a course, your request is automatically routed to the appropriate affiliation manager based on the affiliation your account belongs to which was determined during account creation.
For example, enrollment requests from county employees are routed to their county's affiliation manager. Requests from state agency employees are routed to the appropriate state-level affiliation manager, as well as the affiliation manager for the county associated with the FLEX user's address.
Is my supervisor part of the course enrollment approval process?
No, enrollments are approved by FLEX affiliation managers. When enrolling in FLEX courses, it is assumed your supervisor has given you prior approval to enroll within a course.

- A new system of affiliation managers replacing the previous supervisor-approval model
Why isn't the "Go to LMS" link working for my Learner account?
The Go to LMS link becomes available after you enroll in a FLEX course offering. Upon enrollment, your Canvas account is automatically created, enabling access to the LMS.
How do I navigate back to FLEX from the LMS?
When you access an active course from your Learner Dashboard, or select Go to LMS from the left navigation, you will be redirected to the Canvas LMS. To return to FLEX:
- Select the FDEM logo in the upper-left corner of the page
- In the Navigate to FLEX announcement at the top of the page, select the FLEX Learner Dashboard link
- Login to FLEX using your FLEX credentials
We are working to provide a more seamless experience between FLEX and Canvas. Until then, please use these steps to navigate back to FLEX.
What is the difference between Files and Request Credit from my Learner Dashboard?
Files is used to upload documentation required for course enrollment, such as prerequisite documents, resumes, or other supporting materials. FDEM may also use this feature to upload Instructor Endorsement Letters for state-approved instructors.
Do not use Files to upload course completion certificates for training completed outside of FLEX.
Request Credit is used to request credit for training completed outside of FLEX by uploading your course completion certificate and supporting information.
Credit requests should not be submitted until FDEM has announced that the legacy SERT TRAC data conversion is complete.
