The California Air Resources Board (CARB) in association with CARB's third-party administrator, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), is excited to announce the 2025 CARB Sustainable Heavy-Duty Initiatives for Future Technology (SHIFT) Symposium and Showcase to be held April 22 and 23, 2025 in Sacramento. SHIFT is the new name for CARB’s Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilots.

The 2025 SHIFT Symposium will bring together CARB staff, EPRI staff, grantees, project partners, technology providers, equipment operators, collaborating State and local agencies, utilities, and community-based organizations, among others to learn from past project experiences, share best practices, and improve project outcomes. The symposium will feature several moderated panel discussions with speakers from prior projects discussing opportunities, challenges, and successes.  Each panel will have a Q+A session to allow current grantees and the audience to hear speaker views on key topics.  The Symposium will also include a showcase of vehicles and equipment funded through SHIFT for attendees to see and meet the project teams. There will be networking opportunities during the symposium days and at an evening reception.

SHIFT — formerly known as Advanced Technology Demonstration and Pilots — administered by CARB and funded through Low Carbon Transportation Investments, is reducing emissions, and accelerating the next generation of advanced, clean heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. SHIFT is a part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment, particularly in disadvantaged communities.
