Frequently Asked Questions

May highschoolers and children attend MedAdvance?

Highschoolers are welcome if accompanied by an adult registered for the conference.

Childcare will not be available, so no children of participants are allowed during this event.

How do I register a group?

You will have the opportunity to add additional group members as you go through the registration process. The total cost for all registrants in the group will be charged to the first person in the group. If the members of the group are paying individually (with different credit cards), each person must create a separate registration.

What if I have special dietary requirements?

Please note any dietary restrictions during your registration process.

What if I arrive early on Thursday?

Check-in will begin at 2 PM at Idlewild Baptist Church in Tampa.

There will be an opportunity for everyone to visit exhibit tables including each IMB affinity, the IMB prayer ministry, Send Relief, Baptist Medical Dental Fellowship, and Baptist Nursing Fellowship. Come and enjoy networking and meeting people during the afternoon.

This is my first time attending MedAdvance. What should I know?

If this is your very first MedAdvance conference, we will invite you to join us around 4 PM for an informal time of introductions and finding out what to expect during the weekend.

Do you provide a certification of attendance or any CEU's/CME's for this event?

We unfortunately do not provide a certificate of attendance as there are no CEU’s/CME’s or otherwise awarded for attending this conference. The only “certificate of attendance” that could be used is the provision of our confirmation email once you are registered for the event.

What is an Affinity Marathon?

An “Affinity Marathon” is a session where attendees hear reports from missionaries representing different "affinities" in 20 to 25-minute segments. This allows participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of the global healthcare needs and mission work of the International Mission Board across various regions and people groups, without having to pick and choose which reports to attend. The marathon provides a unique opportunity for attendees to learn about the diverse needs and opportunities for healthcare ministries around the world and how they can get involved.

If I arrive late or leave early, will I miss anything important?

YES! The MedAdvance conference is a time of intensive learning that is practical and dynamic, and includes tremendous relationship-building opportunities. Days are long, and we strive to pack it full. On Saturday evening the focus is on individual commitment and next steps and is a highlight of the conference. Please resist the temptation to leave early!

Where do you suggest staying and do you have a room block/discounts?

We’re excited to suggest some convenient and comfortable accommodation options for your stay during the conference. Although we don’t have any reserved room blocks or special rates available, we highly recommend considering the following hotels:

  1. Hilton Garden Inn Tampa Suncoast Parkway
  2. Residence Inn by Marriott Tampa Suncoast Parkway at North Pointe Village

Please note: Both hotel recommendations are located within a 15-minute drive of the church conference venue.

Is transportation available from the hotels to the meeting site?

Transportation arrangements are your responsibility. If you are coming by air, we would suggest renting a car at the airport or using Uber or Lyft during your stay.

What is the attire?

Business casual. Tampa is hot in the summer but buildings may be cool so come prepared for the air conditioning.

Will there be Wi-Fi?

Yes! There is Wi-Fi available in the church.
