Course Description:
Understanding what to do past pain education and screening for patients with chronic and persistent pain can be difficult. In this Inservice Logan(Physical Therapist) and Amanda(Psychologist) will go over interventions that are practical and that you can bring into the clinic tomorrow. This is an introduction in acceptance and commitment therapy concepts without getting into the weeds.
Learning Objectives:
At the end of this course participants will be able to:
- Explain basic acceptance and commitment therapy concepts
- Apply pain vortex exercise to the clinic environment
- Apply concepts of cognitive diffusion and exercises that correspond to it
- Apply a mindfulness approach to breathing and exercise

Logan Buckley, PT, DPT, OCS
Logan is an orthopedic clinical specialist with a passion for treating patients with persistent/Chronic pain conditions and psychologically informed care. Currently in a Doctor of Education program he is hoping to improve the implementation of psychologically informed technique for practicing clinicians. Logan has done training in ACT through Modern Pain Care and the Integrative Pain Institute. He and Amanda Kallunki PsyD have been co-facilitating a behavioral health group for patients with chronic pain conditions since January 2024. Together they have seen how the interventions in this workshop can make a big difference for patients in their journey through pain. His goal for this in-service is to provide practical exercise/ tools that can be brought into the clinic right away.
Amanda Kallunki, PsyD
Amanda trained at Cherokee Health Systems in rural Tennessee for her internship and postdoc, primarily focusing on treating trauma, grief, and substance misuse within primary care. She began working with Providence at Reed’s Crossing Family Medicine in Hillsboro, OR in 2023, where she was honored to be part of a new team building best practices in integrated care to best serve the community. There, she became certified in Prolonged Exposure in Primary Care and partnered with Physical Therapist in leading Living Well with Chronic Pain group due to clinic and patient need. In 2024, she transitioned to Internal Medicine at Gateway, which gave her the opportunity to work closer to home while increasing access to care to underserved populations. In her time at Providence, she has also been honored to supervise Practicum students, interview psychologist candidates, and support psychologists in their onboarding. Her educational background includes earning her PsyD at Pacific University, where she focused on serving underserved communities ranging from adolescents to adults in integrated settings, however, mostly in traditional therapy settings. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her family traveling when she can.

This course is on demand and open only to Providence caregivers.

Contact Hours: This course qualifies for 1.25 contact hours for Physical Therapists and Assistants in Oregon and Washington. Continuing education credit in additional states may be available. Certificates of attendance will be issued to all participants completing the CEU requirements
