Homeland Security: Past and Future

October 22-23, 2026

Virtual via Zoom

In an era of increasing instability, this conference aims to assess: first, what we have learned over the past 25 years of homeland security research and practice; and second, what future homeland security challenges are likely to be. We'll be discussing a wide range of homeland security issues, including the evolving terrorist threat and what this means for counter-terrorism, the growing threat of cyber-attacks, emergency management preparedness, public health preparedness challenges, and inter-agency cooperation.

Through this conference, we hope to identify lessons learned from previous crises and explore how they may apply to future challenges, develop new research agendas, and foster new synergies and collaborations between practitioners and academics.
