Frequently Asked Questions

I've never attended an XLH Network event before, what should I expect?

Many participants tell us they felt nervous before attending their first event, but quickly discovered an immediate connection with the XLH community. The weekend is designed with plenty of built-in opportunities to meet others, share experiences, and learn from one another.

XLH Network board members and staff will also be available throughout the event to answer questions, help with introductions, and make sure new attendees feel welcome. This year, we are especially excited to offer a First-Time Attendees Reception on Friday afternoon, where you will have the chance to meet other new guests in a relaxed and supportive setting.

Is there childcare available?

Yes! We are thrilled to be working again this year with Bliss Babysitters. They have provided childcare services for us for the last three years and are extremely professional and fun! Childcare services are free to attendees.

Are the speakers available for consult?

While most health care providers refrain from providing consult outside of their practice, there is an opportunity to ask questions during one of our "Ask the Doctors" sessions in an open discussion format.

Will there be closed captioning available?

Closed captions will be available during our general sessions. We are currently working on arranging for captioning in our breakout sessions as well.

Why isn't the XLH Network paying for a free hotel night for all this year?

Like many other non-profits, the Network is conserving funds to assure sustainability in future years. Instead of paying for a free night for everyone regardless of their ability to pay, we are saving those funds to use for scholarships for those who need financial assistance.

Can I get more details about how the scholarship works?

A set amount of funding is available for scholarships. When applying, you’ll have the option to request coverage for travel, hotel, or both—and you’ll be asked to briefly describe your financial need.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the criteria listed on the scholarship page. While we aim to support as many applicants as possible, please note that if requests exceed available funds, partial scholarships may be offered.

Unless prior arrangements have been made, receipts will be required before any funds are disbursed.

Please note: registration fees are not covered by the scholarship.

Is there anything else I should know?

XLH Day is a space rooted in respect, dignity, and inclusion. We are committed to creating an environment where all participants feel safe, welcomed, and valued.

The XLH Network does not tolerate verbal or written discrimination, harassment, or harmful comments related to race, ethnicity, gender, disability, sexual orientation, religion, political affiliation, or any other aspect of identity.

Participants who engage in this behavior publicly or toward others will receive one warning. If the behavior continues, they will be asked to leave the event.
