COURSE DESCRIPTION
This one-of-a-kind simulation workshop is designed for dental hygienists of all experience levels. The full-day session allows attendees to identify individual goals and work to achieve them in the comfort of their own simulation station. Dani blends current research with demonstrations to elevate your knowledge and clinical skills. Attendees will use state-of-the-art magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ultrasonic units, inserts, tips, plus mannequins, typodonts, and HVE equipment while receiving customized coaching from one of the world’s leading ultrasonic experts.
Course Objectives:
• Describe the benefits and challenges of ultrasonic technology for the removal of calculus, stain, and BIOFILM within both the traditional and contemporary ultrasonic debridement approaches.
• Compare and contrast magnetostrictive and piezoelectric ultrasonic technology to explore deposit removal and ergonomic benefits. You choose what technologies to use during your hands-on activities.
• Analyze ultrasonic instrument characteristics (diameter, shape, cross-section, length, tip activity) and the necessary sequencing required to increase clinical outcomes while reducing the adjunct use of hand instruments, rubber cups, or air polishing.
• Use a minimum of 5 different varieties of ultrasonic instruments and calibrate your technique to optimize access to and removal of hard and soft deposits.
• Demonstrate direct and indirective vision options for using HVE to achieve particle reduction, enhanced visibility, and ideal ergonomics.
