Constructive Collisions: Imaging, AI & Precision Interventions for Digital Surgery

Join us for an in-person, on-campus Constructive Collisions event that will include informational and networking opportunities to connect Emory researchers with big ideas relevant to Imaging, AI & Precision Interventions for Digital Surgery. Digital surgery is rapidly emerging and is currently defined as “the use of technology for the enhancement of preoperative planning, surgical performance, therapeutic support, or training, to improve outcomes and reduce harm.” This event is hosted in partnership with the SOM Department of Radiology & Imaging Sciences. Researchers in the areas of oncology, surgery, imaging technology, robotics, AI, and other disciplines relevant to the visualization needs of surgeons are encouraged to attend.

Federal funding agencies are interested in the emergence of these research fields, including procedural innovations, data governance challenges, and ethical considerations. During this Constructive Collisions event we will discuss ARPA-H’s upcoming program titled, Precision Surgical Interventions (PSI), which plans a near-future call for proposals focused on cancer localization, healthy structure localization, and improving outcomes during surgery. One portion of the BAA focuses on cancer surgeries, while another applies to surgeries for any relevant condition. Researchers will then have an opportunity to network.
