COURSE OVERVIEW

Math stations with small group learning is an effective way to foster meaningful learning, showing growth in math skills for each individual student. In this course, you will learn actionable steps for how to assess and group students, implement math stations in your classroom, and get engaging math activities going for your students. You will design an action plan for your classroom, develop an additional resource to support your plan, and analyze research to support implementation in the classroom. The course ends with you designing an implementation plan designed to ensure you are successful incorporating the lesson concepts, ideas, and resources into a future lesson.

Grade Level: PreK-2

Expected Learning Outcomes

  • Explain the benefits of math stations in the classroom.
  • Design grade level appropriate activities for math stations.
  • Assess and monitor student progress within stations.
  • Build a math stations plan for use in the classroom, along with a supporting resource.
  • Analyze and defend an article on how these ideas apply to the classroom.
  • Plan, reflect, and report on implementation progress using a Classroom Implementation Plan.

Methods of Instruction:  tests, personal goal-setting, reflections on  articles/videos, class collaboration, a cumulative project, and a final practicum.  This course is delivered entirely online.
