Summary

Bent, But Not Brokenthe first of its kind — is a four-day music conference amplifying the musical contributions and accomplishments of Black artists across time and genres, featuring the American Spirtual Ensemble, led by conductor Everett McCorvey; EXIGENCE, led by conductor Eugene Rogers; Westminster Choir College Jubilee Singers, led by conductor Vinroy J. Brown, Jr.; the St. Thomas Gospel Choir; and the Choir School of Delaware, with conductor Jason Max Ferdinand.

The conference will include a variety of interest sessions led by distinguished guest lecturers, an Honor Choir of choristers age 12+ from youth community choirs, conducted by Alysia Lee and Maria Ellis, and Dr. Marques Garrett will delve into the works of renowned composer Nathaniel Dettillustrating Dett’s work through performances by the Choir School of Delaware's Choral Scholars.

 “The conference is comprised of performances from nationally esteemed choral groups complemented with workshops and interest sessions led by the nation's most knowledgeable scholars of music and history. Bent, But Not Broken aims to be the community and artistic summit that will make visible—and audible—the works of Black voices.”
