Perspectives on Publishing: Governing AI Responsibly from Policy to Practice

We are pleased to kick off our webinar series with our first session:
Governing the AI Transformation in Publishing

Date: Wednesday, 28 October 2026
Time: 10:00 - 11:00 am EDT

AI is changing how publishers work and how published content is used. What decisions do these changes create for boards, senior executives, and other publishing leaders?

Join us for a look at two connected dimensions of AI governance - how publishers use AI in their own operations and how they manage the use of copyrighted content by others in AI systems - and the way developments in legislation, litigation, and licensing inform decisions across both.

CCC welcomes governance and leadership advisor Mari Wallgren, LeadMWell, in the first of a new virtual series Perspectives on Publishing: Governing AI Responsibly from Policy to Practice. In this session, she draws on prior experience as both copyright lawyer and publishing executive to offer insights on how today’s publishing leaders can guide AI adoption and strengthen oversight within their organizations.

This session explores:

  • Publishers as AI users and content rightsholders: responsibilities and where they intersect
  • Leadership responsibilities: decision-making, accountability, and oversight
  • Putting governance into practice: policies, workflows, and risk management
  • Publishers’ role in shaping policy and industry standards
