The Architectural Review Board Program (ARB) is designed to train members of local Architectural Review Boards who manage historic districts. The training consists of five key components: legal issues, meeting management, historical guidelines and reviews, planning and zoning, and the economics of historic preservation.
Participants will engage in two full days of virtual sessions, followed by ten weeks of assignments, culminating in the final day of training.
Opening Session:
- September 24, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM and
- September 25, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
At-home Study:
- September 26 - December 3
Closing Session:
- December 4, 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Students at the Opening and Closing sessions will hear from experts, practitioners, and educators. This virtual program incorporates interactive elements and hands-on activities, making the learning experience enjoyable and engaging. These sessions will not be recorded and participation is required. Every participant must join on a separate device in order to allow the program to be interactive. Participants will obtain/purchase textbooks for the at-home study portion, which includes a series of simple assignments to guide students through the texts. We anticipate the course will require a time commitment of two to three hours each week.PLEASE NOTE: This course will be conducted VIRTUALLY.
