Agostino “Gus” Gamba & Family

Augie, Cecily, Gus, Paulette , Natalia
With over 70 years of wine grape growing experience in the Russian River Valley and six generations of winemaking heritage, the Gamba family embodies the quintessential American Dream in Sonoma County's wine country. Their story began when Agostino Luigi Gamba left Northern Italy and, in 1947, purchased historic vineyard land in the Russian River Valley from Cesare Barbieri on a handshake agreement.
Today, Agostino "Gus" Gamba Jr. and his wife Paulette continue the family legacy at Gamba Vineyards and Winery, established in 2000. Combining UC Davis enology training with generations of family expertise, their limited production wines have earned exceptional critical acclaim, including high praise from Robert Parker Jr., who ranks them "Among the best" and one of the "Stars of Sonoma." As the seventh generation enters the family business, Gamba Vineyards and Winery carry forward their foundational belief that great wines are first made in the vineyard.
